Hi, I’m Kristin, the human behind Our Western Journey. I live in gorgeous Colorado with my husband and two ridiculously cute dogs, Mochi & Matsu. I like to think I’m funny and unique… but honestly, that might just be what I tell myself so I don’t feel too weird.

I’m originally from New England, where I ate lobster rolls, raised chickens, and spent weekends fishing like it was my full-time job. I’ve always been obsessed with animals and nature — the kind of kid who was never inside for long, always hiking, exploring, and collecting more than my fair share of ticks. My “siblings” growing up included a whole zoo: cats, dogs, rabbits, chickens, fish, hamsters, rats, goats — you name it, I probably had it.

Fast forward to my adult-ish life, and not much has changed. I’m still a nature enthusiast, still completely dog-obsessed, and still happiest outside. These days, you’ll find me exploring Colorado with Mochi & Matsu, documenting our adventures, and sharing the beautiful, messy, real bond between humans and dogs.

That’s why I started Our Western Journey — it’s our life, our adventures, our ups and downs. It’s about living in Colorado, loving the outdoors, and navigating the chaos and joy of dog ownership (and just being human). I share it all so you can feel like you’re right there with us — yes, even if you’re living on the other side of the planet.
